About Rajaji Tiger Reserve

On 15th April, 2015, the final notification of Government converted Rajaji National Park as Rajaji Tiger Reserve (2nd Tiger Reserve of Uttarakhand and 48th of India) and area has been increased from 820.42 sq.km to 1075.17 sq.km. It is located in the Shivalik Range of Himalaya and spread over three districts of Uttarakhand, i.e. Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal. The unique habitat and rich biodiversity of the reserve attracts nature lovers, birders and photographers.
In 1983 the intent Mortification of Rajaji National Park by the U.P Government has Management Plan written by Mr. Diwakar Kumar for biodiversity conservation and habitat improvement 18 April 2015 Rajaji National Park Become 48th Tiger Reserve of India and 2nd Reserve in Uttarakhand. The national park have for area 819.53 sq.km.

Chilla Tourist Zone

Chilla named after the Cilla tree which is once found in abundance here. A 30km driving circle in this zone is very popular for beautiful mix forest and habitat Park opens 15 November to 15 june

Ranipur Zone

This part is western side of the Tiger Reserve Good chance of sighting of nilgai., spot deer, sambar deer, wild boar, Elephant, and especially good sighting of leopard. It is 5 kg from Haridwar. Park Opens 15 November to 15 zone

Vindvasani Buffer Zone

This is a beautiful forest Try to visit wen more safari zone has been closed. There is good chance to sighting many birds, leopard, elephant, jackal, Himalaya goral and deer. Opens 12 Month morning 6 am to 7 pm.

Motichoor Tourist Zone

This entry gate on the highway 58 Haridwar to Rishikesh road. 24 km safari for 2 hours maximum. Good forest for sighting Deer and Birds also beautiful Tress. Opens till- 15 November to 15 Zone

Mohand Tourist Zone

This zone is on the Delhi-Dehradun National highway 72. 13 km one side 36 km up down safari Available in this zone Good possibility for sighting nilgai, leopard, spotted deer, sambar Deer and Birds. Opens till- 15 November to 15 Zone

Jhilmil Tourist Zone

This zone just near to Rajaji Tiger Reserve area is (3783) hectare. This is Basically conservation forest for swamp Deer also Good sighting possibilities spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer, leopard, Elephant also popular for birds and alligator.

How to Reach Rajaji National Park

If you want to visit the Jungle safari in Rajaji National Park, then it has different gates. Chilla Zone Rajaji National Park is located at a distance of about 10 km from Haridwar. Motichur Zone Rajaji National Park is situated at a distance of about 6 km from Haridwar. Ranipur Zone Rajaji National Park is situated at a distance of about 8 km from Haridwar. Jhilmil Jheel Conservation Reserve Safari Zone 18km from Haridwar. Two Gate of Dehradun is located at 18 Km Asharodi Zone Rajaji National Park. Mohand Gate / Chillawali Zone Rajaji National Park is located at a distance of about 24 Km from Dehradun.
